Should the AIA Gold Medal Be Given to Design Partners?

Following the hub-bub surrounding the Pritzker Prize petition on Change.org, AIA New York is petitioning the national membership organization to change the AIA Gold Medal rules to allow partners to apply.

The New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is spearheading an initiative to overturn the rules governing the awarding of the national AIA Gold Medal. Currently the medal can only go to an individual—though if you read the fine print, that individual does not have to be an architect or an American. (He or she could even be dead.)
